  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 (9 inch) double-crust pie pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in flour until golden.
  3. Add white and brown sugars along with water; bring to boil and simmer for 3-5 minutes to create caramel sauce.
  4. Place one pastry in a pie pan and mound the apple slices inside.
  5. Cut the second pastry into strips and create a lattice top over the apples.
  6. Pour the caramel mixture over the lattice crust.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees F, then reduce to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes until apples are soft.
