  • 2 tablespoons beef bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced or 1 tsp dried
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced or 3/4 tsp dried
  • 1/2 tsp EACH dried oregano, paprika, pepper
  • 1 pound short cut pasta (uncooked; e.g., orecchiette)
  • 5 oz. freshly shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/4 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and pepper; sauté until golden brown (approximately 30 minutes).
  2. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, followed by water or beef broth, evaporated milk, cornstarch, and beef bouillon. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Incorporate uncooked short-cut pasta into the pot, cover, and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 10-12 minutes).
